OceanDataLab is a private examination lab that was set up in 2013 by long time Ocean Remote Sensing and IT specialists working in close coordinated effort with the Space Oceanography Laboratory at IFREMER.

Dear colleague,
I'm not sure this is the right place to pose this question, but I wanted to ask: if I capture an image from the Ocean Virtual Lab (e.g. satellite SST) and make a figure of it for a publication, do I need legal permission or is it sufficient that I cite OVL in the Materials and Methods and/or acknolwdgments?

You can add a citation in the legend of your picture: "taken from https://ovl.oceandatalab.com portal", or mention the https://ovl.oceandatalab.com website in the acknowledgement part. 
If you want people to have a look at your specific example on the web portal, you can also add the shortlink (click on the "share" button on the top panel to generate it) in your legend.
